I’m often asked what equipment do I need to get started climbing outdoors and how much will it cost? Below I have detailed all the gear needed for you to get out and leading at your local crag.
I have also included some more advanced options for those who know they are in it for the long run. If you are just starting out then start off small. Get yourself shoes, harness, helmet, nut key and start building your rack from here.
If you get the bug then you can start emptying your bank account and discover the never ending list of gear.
The differences between the two harnesses below is the number of loops each harness has.
I personally use the DMM Renegade and find its 8 loops makes organising your rack far more manageable.
